Danielle Nantkes was born in Seward, Nebraska. Her father
has served as a County Deputy Sheriff for over 25 years
and her mother has been a teacher at Lincoln Public Schools
for over 15 years. It is in this tradition of public service
that Danielle has decided to run for Legislature in Nebraska’s
46th District.
Danielle graduated from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln
and went on to law school at the UNL Law College. She is
currently a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association,
Lincoln Bar Association, and admitted to Nebraska State
Courts and the Federal Courts of Nebraska.
Danielle is a long-time community volunteer. She has also
held a variety of volunteer leadership positions in community
organizations such as the Board of Directors for the Lincoln
YWCA and as a mayoral appointee and newly elected Vice Chair
of the Community Development Task Force. These community
activities have helped her build the personal relationships
necessary to develop a strong volunteer base in her campaign
for Legislature.
Danielle has been employed as an attorney with the Nebraska
Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest since her
admittance to the Bar. Her work experience has given her
a keen understanding of the concerns of working families
in Nebraska. She has been on the frontlines creating positive
changes in state policy and working with community leaders
to find solutions to difficult problems.
In addition to these responsibilities she volunteers as
a pro bono attorney for the Volunteers Lawyers Program and
the Nebraska LAPTOP program which provides pro bono representation
to domestic violence victims. In her spare time she enjoys
fishing and boating with her family and friends.
