Strengthen Public Education

Lincoln is lucky to have an excellent public education system filled with quality teachers. We need to fully fund K-12 needs so class sizes can stay small and our children can learn and succeed in today’s global economy.

Here in the 46th District we are the proud home of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City and East Campuses. We must ensure that the University has the resources it needs to keep tuition costs within the reach of working families and the flexibility to continue to develop new technologies which is key to our economic development.

Strong Neighborhoods

North Lincoln is known for the rich fabric of its neighborhoods and its many unique and beautiful historic homes. We need to create incentives to continue investment in historic homes and neighborhoods to preserve this tradition.

Protecting Lincoln Families

Like many other communities across our state and nation, Lincoln is plagued by increasing meth use and production. Danielle takes this problem seriously. We need to work together to combat this problem. We need to ensure our first responders have the tools they need to deal with this issue and we need to invest more in prevention and treatment programs.

Fostering Economic Development

Danielle is committed to making sure Lincoln is an appealing place to do business for existing business and new companies looking to relocate. Good jobs are the best tool we have to help working families succeed. We need to ensure a business climate that is vibrant and growing.

Tools To Help Small Businesses Succeed

North Lincoln is filled with many small businesses—these the backbone of our economy. We need to ensure that our economic development policies take into account the unique challenges small businesses face. It is difficult for small businesses to make a profit while paying good wages and providing healthcare to employees. We should allow small businesses to buy into the state employee insurance pool. This will bring their costs down and allow them to provide meaningful access to healthcare benefits for their employees.

Property Tax Relief

Heavy property taxes are a growing burden on our citizens, especially those who are retired and on a fixed and limited income. Some senior citizens are unable to keep up with rising taxes on their homes and are forced to move to cheaper housing or live with their children. Others move to states where taxes are lower. I support a cap on property taxes for most retirees so that they can remain in their homes and in Nebraska
